GPS Antennas

Postby JMiller on Mon Sep 14, 2009 11:38 am

I am looking for advice on purchasing a GPS antenna.

Can anyone point me to a useful online resource that describes gain/noise/frequency in terms of actual increase in satellite tracking?

I am looking at purchasing a Trimble Hurricane antenna to work with our Trimble GPS handheld devices and would like to improve precision, particularly in valleys and tree-covered areas.

Thanks,

Jane

Somewhere on the Trimble website there is a white paper comparing the hurricane and patch antennas for accuracy and productivity under various conditions. FYI: I've found that the simple patch antenna works pretty well under canopy if it's mounted on a ground plane.

Found the white paper at http://www.trimble.com/mgis_wp.asp
