Mr. Shane White has accepted the State's offer and will be joining us on April 6th. Some of you may already know Shane through his past employment with Fuss & O'Neil, ESRI and elsewhere. He's well connected throughout the NE GIS community via URISSA & NEARC and he's plugged into Federal level NSGIC activities as well.
Shane will be coming to us with over twenty-two years of experience in geospatial technologies. He's well versed in both public and private sector functions ranging from hands-on technical skills through project management and on up into the thorny policy issues, including those facing us here in RI.
We owe Kevin Flynn and Jared Rhodes a round of applause for making this a priority for the Dept of Administration. Kudos also to Mike Doyle and Jim Lucht for reviewing the several hundred pages of material we received from over 65 applicants, and for sitting in on the interview process.
Let's plan on moving our upcoming (3rd week of March) RIGIS Executive Committee meeting out to the last week of April. That will give Shane a chance to get settled in before jumping into our meaty RIGIS discussions.
I believe the next couple of years will be quite exciting and productive for RIGIS and I'm sure that after you've met Shane, you'll agree!
